Sports: Brazil gets one more medal in 2017

Gone are the years when Brazil was only good at soccer, and soccer was all everyone only cared for. It's an honor to write a piece of news about another sport that seems to have been flourishing over the past few years.

Three-time Olympic medalist Isaquias Queiroz finished third in the C1 Men 1000m in the 2017 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championship.

The final took place on Saturday, August 26th and it was a close call - the German champion Sebastian Brendel having been only 2.039 seconds faster than the Brazilian athlete.

The official results can be found here.

Because canoeing is not a very popular sport in Brazil, Isaquias's achievements are quite impressive - and are significantly important for the development of the modality. He is the first Brazilian athlete to have won 3 medals in the same edition of the Summer Olympic Games, which happened in Rio-2016.

He is a trailblazer and we hope that this serves as an incentive for more and more people to practice different sports.

Do you think canoeing is going to be popular in Brazil at some point? If so, when? Leave your comment and let us know!
