Saint Patrick's Day

ShamrockSt. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th in many countries, including Brazil. Several pubs and bars serve green beer and people can listen to Irish music all night long while wearing green clothes. Why green, after all?

It is said that St. Patrick used the shamrock, which has three leaves, to teach the concept of the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). Green is also considered the color of Ireland, country where St. Patrick is a patron saint.

Chicago riverCities such as New York and Chicago, in the US, are famous for their St. Patrick's Day parades. The NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade can be viewed along 5th Avenue between 44th Street and 79th Street from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It marches past the beautiful St. Patrick's Cathedral. Chicago, besides having a parade, turns the main river green!
