I was sixteen when I finally had the chance to visit Disneyland. It was a dream come true! I went to Disney, MGM, Universal, Busch Gardens and Sea World (which I deeply regret).
After visiting the parks in Orlando I went to Miami. One day I was watching tv and I saw a hurricane alert on the news. I had no idea that the hurricane was actually going in the direction of where I was... The intercom rang and the hotel manager told us we had to pack one backpack and go to a bus stop where a bus would take us to the nearest shelter. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? :O
Before going to the shelter we went to the supermarket to buy essential supplies such as water, chocolate, and cookies. Well, I was sixteen and I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed to survive. There were many people buying shutters (a wooden cover on the outside of windows or doors). @ADR
At the shelter there were mattresses, pillows, sheets and blankets for everyone. It was possible to take showers and eat. By the way, there was a chef responsible for the food!
Floyd was a category 4 hurricane and it was forecast to strike Florida, but turned away and went to North Carolina instead.
