Phew! That was close!

I was sixteen when I finally had the chance to visit Disneyland. It was a dream come true! I went to Disney, MGM, Universal, Busch Gardens and Sea World (which I deeply regret).

Hurricane Bus StopAfter visiting the parks in Orlando I went to Miami. One day I was watching tv and I saw a hurricane alert on the news. I had no idea that the hurricane was actually going in the direction of where I was... The intercom rang and the hotel manager told us we had to pack one backpack and go to a bus stop where a bus would take us to the nearest shelter. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? :O

Before going to the shelter we went to the supermarket to buy essential supplies such as water, chocolate, and cookies. Well, I was sixteen and I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed to survive. There were many people buying shutters (a wooden cover on the outside of windows or doors).

At the shelter there were mattresses, pillows, sheets and blankets for everyone. It was possible to take showers and eat. By the way, there was a chef responsible for the food!
Floyd was a category 4 hurricane and it was forecast to strike Florida, but turned away and went to North Carolina instead.
